Filmmetaverse Summer Gathering
Nothing is more exciting than a summer gathering with BBQ and live Jazz band, especially in the gorgeous garden of the Victorian home of UKIIC, where The Magna Carta was signed!
On 21st July, UKIIC hosted this lovely Filmmetaverse gathering on Magna Carta Island.
Thanks to the great work of our advisor Balbir Judge, we welcomed 80+ guests including film directors, Entrepreneurs, VC investors and many others who are interested in the web 3 and crypto community. We discussed digital assets and digital ownership including Films, DeFi, NFTs, the Metaverse, DAOs and Gaming.
The afternoon started with warm welcome from UKIIC director Prof Yu Xiong, who then announced the exciting news of UKIIC being appointed as APPG group on Metaverse and Web 3.0.

The highlight of the afternoon must be the heartfelt speech from Multi-award winning director Ann Hu. Madame Hu just landed in the UK the day before to work on her charitable campaign, the Confetti Community Screening Movement. It is aimed to bring awareness of dyslexia in young children to help them overcome the difficulties and have a better future. She shared the story of her own family struggle of dyslexia and how she became an advocate of dyslexia awareness and influenced legislation change in the US. The success in the US would not stop her, now she’s determined to expand the success to other part of the world to help more families.
UKIIC is very proud to work with Madame Hu. Since the appointment of UK Confetti Ambassador in March, Prof Yu Xiong has been leading the UK Confetti Movement. UKIIC has hosted Confetti special UK premiere on Magna Carta Island back on 17th June. We’re organising the grand premiere at BAFTA and Parliament in this October.
Another highlight is the impressive speech from the youngest NFT wizard Ben Ahmed, he shared the story of how he, at just 14 years old, made a splash in the NFT space. #BenAhmed#
The guests also enjoyed speeches Jonny Caplan of SpectrumNFT.io. as well as the inspiring speech from Chana Kanzen, founder of London Women Leading Web 3.
When the smokes of BBQ arose, the live Smooth Jazz band started playing. Our guests enjoyed a lovely social networking evening in the garden, where the tree planted by Queen Elizabeth II is growing.
